Each of our classes is designed with a purpose: to get your child moving. Whether they are a dancer, cheerleader, ball player, or just want to learn to tumble…we have a class for them.

Class Descriptions

Rec Cheer and Competition Cheer

AcroDance

AcroDance is an art form that incorporates the fluid movements of dance with the exciting tricks from acrobatics. It is “gymnastics for dancers”, where students develop specific strength, flexibility and technique, to learn how to execute acrobatic tricks, to then be used in dance choreography or anywhere. The training students receive in their acro classes reinforces their technique in all other dance genres, creating well-rounded and versatile dancers and athletes. All students begin with Acro/Tumble combination classes to build the strong foundation. At the Intermediate level, students decide whether they want to continue with Acro (dance components like illusions, balances, and aerial and walkover variations and combinations) or focus on the tumbling without the dance aspects.

Tumbling

Tumbling incorporates the technique training of Acro Dance with greater focus on the tumbling skills. While the curriculum for Acro and Tumbling begin with the same foundation, as students move into Intermediate and Advanced classes, Tumbling focuses on the tricks primarily for Cheer, while Acro continues to incorporate variations of skills for dance. The training students receive in their Tumbling classes will prepare them for tumbling for cheer or wherever they choose to demonstrate their skills!

Acro Ninja

Acro Tumble

Cheer classes are designed to learn and practice techniques that will prepare students for cheer. Not only will they learn tumbling skills; they will also learn essential skills for cheerleading like motions, jumps, voice level projection, and tumbling! For more information about our competitive cheer team visit the Competitive Cheer page!

Acro Ninja is an energizing class that incorporates strength, balance, body awareness, and agility training with exciting acrobatic tricks.  Think: gymnastics meets parkour. Acro Ninja students develop specific strength, flexibility, and technique in order to execute acrobatic tricks that they can do anywhere! The training students receive in their Acro ninja classes helps to reinforce the training from other sports, such as soccer, basketball, football and more, creating well-rounded and versatile athletes.

Acro/Tumble classes are the foundation for all of the Acro, Tumbling, and Ninja classes at Twisted Motion.  This class lays the foundation for the higher level acrobatic tricks by building the initial strength and flexibility that is needed for the more advanced tricks.  Students learn about trick families (rolls, balances, cartwheels, bridges, etc.) and how to control their bodies as they move through different planes of motion .  Each skill is taught progressively, so that every child is working at their level, yet is able to stay safe and be challenged at the same time.  Acro/Tumble begins at the Pre-Kinder Level and goes through Junior.  At that time, they have mastered skills such as handstands, walkovers, cartwheels, and more and are ready to choose between the Acro or the Tumbling route!

Students that do not abide by Twisted Motion Policies may be removed or Suspended from class with no refunds

  • Hair: Hair should be pulled back and out of the way for class. For example, very long hair does best in a bun or a braid so that it doesn’t get stepped on. Shorter hair can be worn in a partial or full ponytail.

Attire: For Twisted Motion classes, form-fitting clothing works best. This is because of all the upside-down work that happens in class. Your child will feel more secure, and stay covered, if he/she’s wearing something that stays in place, no matter what trick he/she’s working on. Ninja’s may wear t-shirts that can tuck into their shirts or pants.

Feet: Students should always be barefoot for class unless specified by the teacher.

Jewelry: Jewelry should not be worn. For the safety of your student, and the teacher, only stud earrings are allowed.

Being in the proper attire will put your student into their tumbling mode and help them feel like a professional at the studio. That is when he/she can really put their focus into learning, growing, and perfecting his/her abilities.

  • Should you need to withdraw from any or all classes at any time other than at the end of the session, you must submit the appropriate form (found below) as notice to our office no later than the 28th of the month. To withdraw from all classes and financial obligations, a completed withdrawal form must be turned in to our office. If a withdrawal form is not submitted by the 28th of the month, you are responsible for continuing to pay tuition and late fees until the form is turned in, regardless of attendance.
